Artist Bio – Dean Martin (ARCHIVED)
Born as Dino Paul Crocetti on June 17,1917 in Ohio, Dean Martin soon rechristened himself as Dean Martini and began his journey as a singer while still very young. Though Martin spoke only Italian till he was 5, he recorded songs in both English and Italian.
Dean MartinMartin recorded his first single in 1946 called “Which Way Did My Heart Go?” He also performed on stage as a comedian with Jerry Lewis which gave him confidence and a lot of critical acclaim.
Having worked with the likes of Marlon Brando and Montgomery Clift in The Young Lions in 1957, Dean Martin gained in more ways than one. Some of his other movies included Rio Bravo, The Sons of Katie Elder etc.
Dean Martin gained success not only in music, films, television, stage but also as a a comedian. The Dean Martin show on television was a great hit and ran successfully for 9 seasons.
Martin’s voice had a lot of depth and his songs were full of life. Through his career, Martin worded over 600 songs and 100 Albums.
Some of Martin’s all time hits included Volare, That’s Amore, Memories are made of this etc. Martin died in Dec 1995 after becoming an unforgettable icon whose music lives on even today.
