Local 15-Year-Old To Surprise 52-Year-Old Single Mother with the Gift of Hearing at 3rd Annual Hearing Mission

What: With the help of a star-studded line up of football and entertainment legends, Starkey Hearing Foundation, which strives to change the social consciousness of hearing and hearing health care, will deliver the gift of hearing in Indianapolis during its 3rd Annual Super Bowl Week Hearing Mission.

At the event, a 15-year-old girl from Indianapolis will surprise her legally-deaf, single mom with the gift of hearing. The mom, who has six children, does not know she will receive a new digital hearing device. Starkey Hearing Foundation’s team of audiologists will fit the single mom, along with 235 under-served, hearing-impaired children and adults from the Indianapolis area with a new, custom-made hearing device.

2011 ROCKEFELLER CENTER® CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING

The 30,000 energy efficient LED lights on the 74-foot-tall Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree will be lit when New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Tishman Speyer Chairman and CEO Jerry I. Speyer flip the switch on Wednesday, November 30 at 8:55 PM (media enter from 4-6 PM at 610 Fifth Avenue, between 49th and 50th Streets, Manhattan). Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie will co-host Christmas in Rockefeller Center from 7-9 PM.

The program includes live performances by Cee Lo Green, Faith Hill, Michael Bublé, Carole King, Katharine McPhee, Javier Colon (NBC’s “The Voice”) and the Radio City Rockettes. Additional performances by Justin Bieber and Tony Bennett.

Suryoday Trust’s Maharashtra President Mr. Punit Balan under the guidance of respected P.P. Shri Bhaiyyuji Maharaj runs social service programmes in the field of health, agriculture, education, environment, children and women’s welfare. The said trust has its presence in more than 4 states with more than 140 projects that work towards the betterment of the nation and upliftment of the underprivileged section of society.

One of the foundations under the trust, Suryoday Aids Foundation primarily works towards providing HIV affected children with a holistic approach of prevention, treatment, care and support apart from creating awareness related to AIDS across the globe. The said foundation has already established institutes in Pune and Akola to provide these affected children with food, clothing, shelter, medical aid and education. There are almost 100 children who get unconditional love and respect under one roof.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Punit Balan, a successful businessman turned social worker states “The country has witnessed a sharp rise in the deadly diseases over the years and unfortunately there are inadequate resources and machinery through which the rehabilitation and recuperation of affected persons can be ensured. It gives us immense pleasure to be associated with an internationally acclaimed personality like Pitbull who in turn will champion our efforts across the globe. QUEENS, NY (August 25, 2011) — On September 17th and 18th, the BUST Magazine Craftacular will be held outdoors at the New York Hall of Science, on the site of the original World’s Fairgrounds in Queens, NY when it joins the second annual World Maker Faire New York. In addition to over 60 crafty vendors, the event will offer a line-up of amazing DJs, hands-on crafting demonstrations, food from around the city, and lots of fun.

“Maker Faire has established itself as the premier DIY and creative festival on the West Coast, and we’re so excited to join forces with them again this year in New York,” said Debbie Stoller, founder of the BUST Magazine Craftacular and Editor-in-Chief of BUST Magazine. “The BUST Magazine Craftacular will give visitors an opportunity not only to meet artists and crafters who are doing some of the most inspiring work imaginable, but also to try their hand at some crafting themselves.”

The BUST Magazine Craftacular features hand-picked vendors who bring the most unique indie shopping experience to New Yorkers. Attendees will delight in specialty items such as Periodic Table of Elements-inspired products by Periodically Inspired; antique steampunk jewelry by Once Lost Jewelry; and cheeky eco-friendly screen printed t-shirts and tote bags by Black Sheep Heap.
