GLAMOUR Magazine Celebrates its 20th Annual “Women of the Year” – Fergie & Cher Honored

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GLAMOUR magazine is celebrating its 20th annual Women of the Year with a ceremony at New York City’s Carnegie Hall on Monday, November 8. Among this year’s honorees, December issue cover-girl Fergie and a Lifetime Achievement Award for the unstoppable Cher.

FERGIE With six Grammys on the shelf and a new The Black Eyed Peas album, The Beginning, dropping this month, Fergie is a major musical force, and the powerhouse behind one of the decade’s top bands. She also uses her girl power to give back, advocating for causes like breast cancer research and AIDS awareness.

Off all her musical accolades, she humbly tells GLAMOUR, “I don’t just bask in everything. My mom, dad and stepdad ordered display cases for (my husband) Josh and me to put our awards in… It’s nice to think about getting my awards out of the safe and putting them in one by one. Because when you’re in the middle of it, you don’t just sit there and give yourself gold stars all the time.”

She goes on to confess about the “boys club” that is her band: “You gotta be tough. And you gotta have thick skin. You will get teased. I definitely took on the little sister role in [the Peas]. And it’s hilarious, because I always wanted a big brother – well, I got a bunch of ‘em. Be careful what you wish for.”

CHER As for Lifetime Achievement Award-winner Cher, 45 years after “I Got You Babe” made her a sensation, she is, once again, everywhere: starring in the upcoming film Burlesque, her first feature film in seven years; continuing her long-running Las Vegas revue; and even planning to direct her first film. Cher has also helped build a school for orphans in Kenya, supported Operation Helmet and cofounded The Heroes Project for wounded veterans.

“My grandmother was working out at the gym until she was 88, “ she says. “I want to last that long too. Maybe not in five-inch heels. But we’ll see.”
*  *  *

Featured in the December issue (on newsstands nationwide next week), and at a ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Monday, November 8, Cher and Fergie will join fellow honorees Julia Roberts, Queen Rania of Jordan, the athlete trio Mia Hamm, Lisa Leslie and Lindsey Vonn and others. The ceremony will begin with a special live performance by Janelle Monáe.

Haiti Earthquake Relief Efforts : Paste Magazine, Ludacris, Of Montreal, Andrew Bird, Hanson, & Over 200 Additional Artists

SONGS FOR HAITI – –Paste Magazine, Ludacris, Of Montreal, Andrew Bird, Hanson, and over 200 additional artists team up for massive earthquake relief effort–

Decatur, GA (January 19, 2010) – Today, Paste Magazine launches “Songs For Haiti” (http://songsforhaiti.org/), a music-centered relief effort to aid the struggling people of Haiti. Featuring unreleased songs from a diverse array of artists including: Ludacris, Of Montreal, Andrew Bird, Hanson, Low Anthem, Umphrey’s McGee, Switchfoot, Derek Webb, and over 200 others, “Songs For Haiti” is one of the largest relief efforts yet to emerge from the entertainment world.

Whether people donate through Paste or through another charity (just have to say where); all will have access to the vault of “Songs For Haiti” MP3s. 100% of the money contributed through the Paste site will be spread equally among three charities active in Haiti relief: Doctors Without Borders, The Red Cross, and Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund. [Please note: donations submitted directly through “Songs For Haiti” are not tax deductible, since Paste is not a charitable organization.]

“We obviously don’t think people would need incentive to donate in this effort, but perhaps the campaign will inspire more music fans to get involved, or to encourage people who have already donated, to donate again,” said Josh Jackson, Paste Magazine’s Editor-In-Chief. “Music has always been a force that brings people together, and to have so many fantastic artists drop everything to contribute to this effort was very touching,” Jackson added.

For any questions relating to “Songs For Haiti,” or to speak with a representative from Paste magazine, please contact: Mark@rosengrouppr.com

# # #
Paste magazine is quickly becoming the most celebrated entertainment magazine in the U.S. with two National Magazine Award nominations for general excellence, dozens of Plug, Folio and Gamma Awards and endorsements from folks like USA Today, The NY Daily News and The Wall Street Journal, who calls Paste “the finest among American music titles.” In less than a decade, the independent publication has grown to become the third largest rock magazine in the world, thanks to readers hungry for authenticity and creativity. This highly engaged and devoted audience (including nearly 50,000 Twitter followers and 1,000,000 unique monthly visitors) goes to Paste magazine and PasteMagazine.com to discover the Best of What’s Next in music, film, books, games and television. As Utne says, “Paste brings together the best elements of the mainstream and indie press.”

Supreme Magazine Presents The Official John Legend Concert After Party Hosted by: John Legend & Estelle

For Immediate Release : Supreme Magazine Presents The Official John Legend Concert After Party Hosted by: John Legend & Estelle

(Oakland, California) January 5, 2009– Supreme Magazine the newest online publication focused on hip-hop culture, education, and entertainment in conjunction with Home School Records is proud to announce The Official John Legend Concert After Party hosted by John Legend & Estelle with a special performance by Anthony Vaughn at Maxwell’s Lounge in Downtown Oakland, CA. Sponsored by Supreme Magazine and Mywigsandweaves.com (MWAW)

After his concert at the Paramount Theater in Oakland, CA on Monday, January 12, 2009, John Legend and Estelle will join their fans to party the night away at Maxwell’s lounge located at 341 13th Street, Oakland, CA For guest list and ticket information, please log on to www.suprememag.com.

About John Legend
John Legend has sold more than five million albums worldwide, garnered multiple hit singles (“Ordinary People,” “Used to Love U,” “So High,” “Save Room,” “Heaven,” “Another Again”), received countless awards (including five Grammys) and wowed rapt audiences across the globe. Critics have called him a genius, one of the most compelling and important singer/songwriters of this generation, an elegant ambassador of soul.

With all of the acclaim, it would be easy for John Legend to rest on his laurels, but he continues to push himself, always striving to break new musical ground. “Some people have been making the same album for years and they don’t really push the envelope,” Legend says. “That’s not me. Expect me to experiment. Expect me to always approach the music in new and different ways.”

Legend does all that and more on Evolver, the follow-up to his Grammy award-winning Once Again. His new album’s name is as succinct as it is bold, a one-word mission statement encapsulating the singer’s ambitions. “I am constantly evolving as a person and as an artist,” says Legend. “You still have the legacy of what you did before and the people’s memory of that will always be there, but with each album you get to question that, to play with it and even rebel against if you want to and I did that with this album.”

About Maxwell’s Lounge:
Maxwell’s caters to a discerning clientele. It is the perfect spot for urban professional singles, couples, friends and business associates to converse, dine, enjoy live music, or groove to R&B and neo-soul music. The décor is dramatic and stylized featuring rich tones of crimson, deep chocolate, sea-mist green and crisp white. The floor plan is open and includes a lounge with intimate seating areas, a high profile bar, an inviting dining area, raised stage and dance floor. The warmth and sophistication that is Maxwell’s is without rival.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ARL Marketing | Public Relations

NEW WEBSITE REPORTS HIP-HOP CULTURE FROM THE FRONT LINES

(Los Angeles, California) November 5, 2008 – Supreme Magazine the newest online publication focused on hip-hop culture, education, and entertainment. Supreme Magazine has already began to make its mark on the scene with interviews from Sean Kingston, Master P, and Ice Water to name a few. Supreme Magazine will unveil its full product at it highly anticipated launch party in San Francisco this coming December.

Utilizing regular and creative contributors who have experience in the hip hop game; The Los Angeles-based online magazine explores and chronicles the lifestyle, modern politics and music that drive urban culture. From the Bronx birthplace of hip hop to the dirty south and Chi-town, SupremeMag.com already has the daily in-depth interviews, fearless bloggers and insightful features needed to understand our new global hip-hop culture.

Straying away from sensationalism and gossip, SupremeMag.com intends to provide the avid hip hop fan with an unbiased and accurate depiction of hip hop and urban culture.

Why hip hop? It is estimated that 50 million North Americans spend more than $4 billion annually on hip-hop products, such as movies, albums, apparel, and concerts. The hip-hop influenced “urban apparel” market alone brings in $2.2 billion annually for designers and retailers, which include celebrities such as Beyoncé Knowles and Sean “Diddy” Combs. Worldwide, the hip-hop culture has been adopted by an estimated 100 million people.

“The “hip-hop sub-culture” has permeated popular culture in an unprecedented fashion because of its enormous cross-over appeal,” said Zerai, Supreme Magazine Group’s founder and CEO. “Yet, there are currently very few publications that cover all aspects of hip-hop culture from the music, artists, and spin-off industries to the history of the culture, politics and its influence on today’s youth. There is a window of opportunity for SupremeMag.com to satisfy demand for an informative, honest and entertaining Hip-Hop magazine that will appeal to the ever increasing and ethnically diverse number of Hip-Hop fans.”

SupremeMag.com has already drawn a huge fan base since its Beta launch in 2008. Serving as a portal, the site goes beyond “underground” rap and beyond “gossip” to find the universal truth for people who don’t consider hip hop a music genre, but a lifestyle. SupremeMag.com talks to the people through live chats with artists, interactive polls, sponsored parties, promotional giveaways, new music & classic music.

Sean Kingston’s Interview with Supreme Magazine Group and Desi Hits Contest Info

Fully story and Photo’s available at: http://www.suprememag.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=162&Itemid=1

Sean Kingston came on the scene in 2007 with “Beautiful Girls,” a radio staple with a tight “Stand By Me” sample. He also looks like Biggie. However, despite being from rough Jamaica, the 18-year-old Rapper Ternt Singa keeps his hip-hop joints PG and collabs with pop stars like Natasha Bedingfield. Now he’s wrapping up the follow up to his self-title album, tentatively called Point Blank, and sponsoring a remix contest on Desi Hits http://www.desihits.com/exclusives/sean-kingston-bollywood-girls/songs

Supreme Mag – Many rappers nowadays worry about being taken seriously, but you seem to walk the line between tough rap and pop. What’s different?

SK – I never shot nobody, though I was exposed to a lot of that in Jamaica, but I’m pretty happy now. For me it’s about hit records. I’m not mad. [Through touring] this music has taken me around the world. I’m blessed.

I’m not afraid to be a happy rapper. The older guys have to worry about that. I’m 18, and being from Jamaica I was a lot of that stuff, but that’s not who I am. I don’t even curse in my music because that’s not who I am.

Supreme Mag – Two thousand and seven was a pretty big year with “Beautiful Girls” and your album, and 2008 with all the remixes and collabos you’ve hoped on. What is 2009 going to look like?

SK – Working on a new album, almost done. And we have everybody on there from Young Jeezy to Stephen Marley. The sound is big, too. On the last album, I was only 17. My writing has gotten better, my concepts have gotten better, as have the lyrics and hooks. The album will be out in January or February.

Supreme Mag – And you’ve been working with a lot of people this year, like Baby Bash and Bun B.

SK – I’m just trying to keep myself relevant, but if you spread yourself out too much, you can play yourself out. I’m just trying to stay on the grind.

Supreme Mag – Tell me about this remix project with Desi Hits.

SK – It’s a producer contest. People make different beats to fit my song “Bollywood Girls,” which is a play on my song “Beautiful Songs” with a Bollywood theme. The contest ends at midnight on October 21st.
