Every time you pick up your guitar to play something, make sure to tune it. Many a times, the sounds produced by a guitar may not sound melodious and main reason for this is that the guitar being played is not tuned. A guitar which is out of tune cannot produce good sound. Hence, it is a must to tune your guitar properly before thinking that you just don’t play well.

You can buy a tuner from a music shop to tune your guitar or follow any of these simple steps to tune your guitar -

• Use any other tuned instrument such as a Piano, Harmonium, Flute or Mouth Organ to play the notes – EBGDAE and tune your guitar simultaneously.
• Record the sounds of the notes - Open Strings – E B G D A E (from 1st to 6th) on your piano or any other tuned instrument and play them while tuning.
• Tune the 1st string to E, 2nd string 5th fret to E as well, 2nd string open is B and the 3rd string 4th fret is B again. 3rd string Open is G, so is 4th string 5th fret. 4th string Open is D. Now tune 5th string 5th fret to D. And 6th string open is E and its 5th fret is A which is the same as 5th string open.

I don’t know about you, but music is a large part of my daily life.

• As i wake up in the morning, I like to start my day by listening to some chants or “bhajans”. This is a great way to prepare for the entire day ahead.
• My daily dose of aerobics is based on some fast music which has a lot of beats and counts.
• Next, comes breakfast and this is when I love to switch stations on the radio. Movie music and catchy songs are on air 24×7 on almost all radio stations. Old time hits are also accessible.
• During the day, as I work on my computer, I listen to some nice English songs saved on my desktop. This is largely to take a break and clear my mind every time I feel completely overwhelmed and saturated with work.
• To unwind and take my mind off the entire day, I love to listen to some soft music, preferably instrumental before I hit the sack.

As I look back on the whole day, it strikes me that music is such a big part of daily life. There are so many different genres of music to experience, artists to follow and sounds to enjoy. This lifetime seems too short for it!
