Oprah Winfrey travels to Nashville, Tennessee where she speaks with music superstar Carrie Underwood who is joined by her NHL husband Mike Fisher, marking the first time cameras have ever been invited inside their cabin retreat for an intimate, in-depth interview. Underwood reflects on her rise to stardom as she looks back on her journey. For theirfirst television interview together, Underwood and Fisher talk about how they balance their successful and fast-paced careers with their two year marriage. The couple also takes Winfrey to their new plot of land where they plan to build their dream home.

Underwood’s new CD Blown Away recently debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country and All-Genre sales charts. The Top Country Albums chart debut made her only the second country artist in the 47-year history of the chart to have their first four albums debut at No. 1. With more than 267,000 albums sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, Blown Away debuts at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200chart making Underwood only the second country artist in history to have three consecutive albums debut at No. 1.

May 7, 2012 New York, N.Y. – KlingerVision, Inc. announced today that it has signed Alan Gampel in order to posture the growth of his performance career in the United States. After several years abroad and limited engagements enjoying the formative years of his children, Mr. Gampel will return to the stage in the United States in several key cities to be announced shortly. KlingerVision, Inc. will be responsible for all of Mr. Gampels public relations, appearances, and engagements.

After the birth of Alans first child, he was inspired to search for innovative ways to introduce music and the arts to young people. In 2000, Alan created The Joy2Learn Foundation to improve public education by creating and providing high-quality arts content to schools free of charge, via a series of Internet based presentations, using live video and other multimedia elements in an engaging interactive format. KlingerVision, Inc. will assist with programs with Mr. Gampel for development of the Joy2Learn Foundation.

In a move that demonstrates his passion for music; Mr. Gampels interest and discoveries relating to the origins of western musical notation during the first millennium led him to complete a graduate degree in musicology at the Sorbonne in 2010. Last year, he was invited to be part of a newly created PhD program at the Institute for the Studies of the Ancient World at NYU. He is expanding this compelling research on the presence of musical signs in Greek, Hebrew, Syriac and Coptic sources from the early medieval period. Mr. Gampel currently resides in Manhattan with his wife and two children.

About Alan Gampel Alan Gampel is an American virtuoso classical pianist. He was honored with The Special Award in the Arts from UNICEF at age 8 and with the Presidential Scholars Award, presented by President Ronald Reagan at the White House, at age 16. He went on to graduate from Stanford University at age 19 and then completed a graduate degree at the University of Southern California and at the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris. In 1995, Alan Gampel received the coveted Chopin Prize at the Artur Rubinstein International Piano Competition in Israel. Other awards include a top prize at the Naumburg International Piano Competition in New York and the Mozart Bicentenary Prize at the Dublin International Piano Competition in Ireland.

This is a crucial time for the Rhino, with many species facing extinction having been on the Endangered Species list for over 10 years. So when Ringo considered changing the image on his homepage – formerly his cat – he wanted it to be a Rhino.

“I’ve always loved Rhino’s. They were close to my and Keith Moons heart. In fact in I had two huge one’s made and gave one to Keith. Mine is still here out on the grass here in England.”

A handful of wonderful organizations are working towards Rhino preservation including The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Established in 1977, by Dr Dame Daphne Sheldrick in Kenya, they have hands-on practical experience and extensive knowledge of the black rhino which is unmatched. They have pioneered a hand –rearing approach for the rehabilitation of rescued orphaned Rhinos and their approach to protect and preserve the Black Rhino from extinction, as well as the increasingly threatened Elephant, has been emulated elsewhere in Africa.

Tess Dunn is a 17-year old singer-songwriter phenom who hails from Santa Cruz, California. Tess’ raspy vocals, mature piano compositions and alternative sound transcend her years. She started playing the piano at age 5, began writing songs at age 11 and first took to the stage at age 12. Diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF), an incurable life-threatening disease which causes progressive lung damage, as well as epilepsy and diabetes, Tess faces issues of mortality that infuse her music and lyrics with radiant richness and haunting depth.

Tess has performed throughout California, including at the Vans Warped Tour at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View in 2011 and 2010, and at the San Francisco Warped Tour in 2009. She has had successful solo shows in Santa Cruz County, and has opened for artists including Karla Bonoff, Nina Storey, Ari Shine, Adrienne Pierce, and Iris DeMent.

Tess says living with CF is “almost like having a clock ticking over your head, but it has a way of putting things in perspective. She “finds a certain beauty in the randomness of life,” and her music explores issues of love, trust and relationships. An affecting advocate for anyone battling the challenges of chronic disease, Tess encourages others due to her take no prisoners zest for life.

Spring II Furman Film Series at the Great Neck Arts Center

Presented by the Gold Coast International Film Festival at Clearview Squire Cinemas

Great Neck, NY (April 30, 2012) The Furman Film Series, which is presented by Great Neck Arts Center and the Gold Coast International Film Festival and is hosted by Clearview Squire Cinemas, presents a sophisticated cross-section of powerful and thought-provoking independent, art, classic, and foreign films. The series mainly hosts sneak previews of highly anticipated films prior to their theatrical release dates followed by a discussion with a relevant speaker who provides exciting insight into the film and subject matter.

The films for the Spring II Furman Film Series, which will take place on three Thursdays in May: 10, 17, and 31; and two Mondays in June: 11 and 18. Have been announced and are as follows:

THURSDAY MAY 10: “I WISH” - Directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda (Japan, 2011, 128 min)
*Featured at Toronto Film Festival.

Twelve-year-old Koichi lives with his mother and retired grandparents in Kagoshima, in the southern region of Kyushu, Japan. His younger brother Ryunosuke lives with their father in Hakata, northern Kyushu. The brothers have been separated by their parents’ divorce and Koichi’s only wish is for his family to be reunited. When he learns that a new bullet train line will soon open linking the two towns, he starts to believe that a miracle will take place the moment these new trains first pass each other at top speed. With help from the adults around him, Koichi sets out on a journey with a group of friends, each hoping to witness a miracle that will improve their difficult lives.

How did jazz from America find a home in India ? And how did India respond to it? Filmmaker Kurien tells the universal, yet untold story, that begins with Depression era African American musicians journeying from Paris to Calcutta and Bombay. This captivating and unique 73-minute character driven film takes audiences on a richly atmospheric journey into India’s little-known jazz age, which lasted from the 1920s to the 1970s, through a portrait of surviving Indian jazzman, the maverick guitarist Carlton Kitto, who chose to continue as a ‘gigging’ be-bop guitarist in the relative obscurity of Calcutta over emigration, commercial studio work or Bollywood.

MONDAY JUNE 18: “TAKE THIS WALTZ” - Directed by Sarah Polley (Canada, 2011, 116 min)
