FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MUSICIAN FEMKE WEIDEMA INITIATES INNOVATIVE SONGWRITING PROJECT “ONE SONG A WEEK”, GIVING VOICE TO HER FANS

FEMKE has set out to write and perform One Song a Week for an entire year based on real life stories submitted by fans

Los Angeles, CA – October 27, 2009 – One Song a Week is an ambitious, one-of-a-kind project by acclaimed Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter FEMKE. Inspired by ideas she’s receiving from her fans, FEMKE recently set out to write one song per week for a full year. Until August 30th, 2010, the artist will perform every song written and put up a video of each performance on her YouTube channel for her following to listen to, comment on and pass on to friends. As early as in its seventh week, One Song a Week has already formed a considerable International fan base. FEMKE’s most popular video “Father”, a touching tune dealing with the early loss of a child’s father, has received over 2,400 views to date.

The young musician, who is originally from Holland, says she came up with the idea for her songwriting project because she loves to interact with her audience. “I wanted to find a way to connect with people on a more personal level,” FEMKE says. “A lot of music on the radio has a huge production team with multiple songwriters behind it, and often the authenticity and honesty of music is lost by that. I wanted to tell real stories that move real people.” Her fans are eagerly answering FEMKE’s call to action sending in more ideas every day that are finding expression in beautiful songs like “You” for Ines in Austria, “Golddigger” for Emilie in Holland, and “Father” for John in New Jersey.

All of FEMKE’s songs are shaped by her solid songwriting skills – she studied at Boston’s Berklee School of Music – and her striking voice that reminds of the likes of Joni Mitchell or a female John Mayer. Harmoniously combined with her powerful and poetic lyrics, the gifted musician is able to create a stunning musical work of art week after week that will surely thrill many listeners.
