NEW YORK, NEW YORK (October 26, 2009) – On Monday, November 16, 2009, Sir Elton John continues his global humanitarian efforts to help raise money for HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness with the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s (EJAF) eight annual benefit An Enduring Vision at Cipriani Wall Street (55 Wall Street). As part of the evening’s program, EJAF will proudly present Enduring Vision awards to four deserving honorees that have supported EJAF’s mission to fund innovative HIV prevention programs, efforts to eliminate stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS, and direct care and support services for people living with HIV/AIDS. The honorees include Clinton Foundation founder, President William Jefferson Clinton, philanthropists Evelyn and Leonard Lauder and Lily Safra, and actress and AIDS activist Sharon Stone. American Airlines will serve as a presenting sponsor of this benefit.
Anderson Cooper, CNN journalist and New York Times best-selling author, will once again emcee the gala dinner. As anchor of CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360°, Mr. Cooper has reported live, breaking news from around the world on war, famine, natural disasters and eloquently shared the stories of those affected.
President Bill Clinton, Evelyn and Leonard Lauder, Lily Safra, and Sharon Stone have made exceptional contributions to the fight against AIDS and to EJAF’s mission. President Clinton has demonstrated extraordinary global leadership on the issue of HIV/AIDS, and over the past several years, both EJAF-US and EJAF-UK have partnered with the Clinton Foundation’s HIV/AIDS Initiative in support of a variety of projects in Africa and the Caribbean. Evelyn and Leonard Lauder have been dedicated supporters of EJAF for many years and are generous supporters of many other causes; in addition, Evelyn Lauder is the founder of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Lily Safra and the Edmond J. Safra Philanthropic Foundation have provided significant support for EJAF’s grant-making activities for many years and most recently for its Latin America initiative. Sharon Stone has been an ardent HIV/AIDS activist and the Global Fund-Raising Chairman of amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research since 1995; in addition, she has attended and supported numerous EJAF events and has been a stalwart friend of the Foundation for many years.
Multi-Grammy Award-winning artist Donna Summer will be the evening’s special musical guest. “Donna Summer’s energy, voice and spirit are going to electrify our guests, and I can’t wait to share the stage with her,” said Sir Elton John. “Donna has been a tremendous supporter of the Elton John AIDS Foundation for many years, and I am so excited that she has agreed to perform for our An Enduring Vision event.”
An Enduring Vision will specifically support EJAF’s longstanding collaboration with the National AIDS Fund and its network of Community Partnerships that fund local HIV/AIDS organizations throughout much of the United States Sir Elton John and David Furnish are the honorary chairs for An Enduring Vision.
