Every time you pick up your guitar to play something, make sure to tune it. Many a times, the sounds produced by a guitar may not sound melodious and main reason for this is that the guitar being played is not tuned. A guitar which is out of tune cannot produce good sound. Hence, it is a must to tune your guitar properly before thinking that you just don’t play well.
You can buy a tuner from a music shop to tune your guitar or follow any of these simple steps to tune your guitar -
- Use any other tuned instrument such as a Piano, Harmonium, Flute or Mouth Organ to play the notes – EBGDAE and tune your guitar simultaneously.
- Record the sounds of the notes - Open Strings – E B G D A E (from 1st to 6th) on your piano or any other tuned instrument and play them while tuning.
- Tune the 1st string to E, 2nd string 5th fret to E as well, 2nd string open is B and the 3rd string 4th fret is B again. 3rd string Open is G, so is 4th string 5th fret. 4th string Open is D. Now tune 5th string 5th fret to D. And 6th string open is E and its 5th fret is A which is the same as 5th string open.
