The New Orleans Songwriters Festival Announces the “Louisiana Year of the Song 2010 Song Contest”
Songfest Foundation, Inc., sponsor of the New Orleans Songwriters Festival, will be conducting a Song Contest as part of the 2010 Festival. Entries will be accepted starting April 16, 2010.
The grand prize is a two-day writing session with New Orleans’ own, Jim McCormick. Jim’s songs have been recorded by Tim McGraw, Trisha Yearwood, Randy Travis, Ronnie Milsap and many others. He has worked as a staff songwriter with Warner Chappell Music and James Stroud’s Generator Music in Nashville.
This writing session will be both educational, but also, should produce quality songs that have a legitimate chance of being recorded. We know of no other song contest with this kind of opportunity. Part of the grand prize is that the winner and McCormick will pick one of the songs to be demoed gratis by the Beaird Music Group of Nashville, TN.
All entrants will get a one-day pass to the New Orleans Songwriters Festival happening November 10-13, 2010 in New Orleans. The top 8 winners will get free entry to the New Orleans Songwriters 2010 Songwriting Seminar (November 11-13, 2010 and valued at $195.00). The next 16 winners will get a ticket to our main event during the festival. All prizes will be announced at the “Massive Open Mic” during Songfest on November 10, 2010.
As long as your song is words and music, it is eligible for entry. There will not be any sub-genres in this first year of the contest. All songs will compete against each other for the grand and other prizes.
