The Pete Kilpatrick Band will open for the Barenaked Ladies and Bonfire Dub will open for Robert Randolph & The Family Band.
Members of the environmental non-profit Reverb the Barenaked, Ladies show will serve as a charitable event. Founded by environmentalist Lauren Sullivan and her musician husband, Guster guitarist and vocalist Adam Gardner, Reverb works to educate and engage musicians and their fans to take action toward a more sustainable future. All proceeds from the concert will benefit Reverb and local non-profit Vail Breast Cancer Awareness Group. A $10 donation is encouraged for the show.
Presented by Bud Light, the two-night concert series closes out Vail’s weeklong celebration that offers a variety of contests, parties, giveaways and on-mountain events including the annual Dummy Demolition Derby under the lights at Golden Peak.
The free concerts for Vail Snow Daze mark a changing event philosophy for the resort. It comes on the heels of hugely successful free shows with Chris Isaac and O.A.R. at the close of the 2008-2009 season for Spring Back to Vail, which reached attendance levels of approximately 6,000 people in the heart of Vail Village. The strategy is part of Vail’s efforts to respond to the continuing challenges its guests are facing in the current economic environment.
“Vail is keenly aware of our guests’ challenges in this economic environment, and we will continue to send a loud signal that we value their business and work hard to win it. With this comes our commitment to free, first-rate entertainment for all of our guests as part of a guest experience they’ve come to expect. Spring Back to Vail last April was the start of this movement, and Vail Snow Daze this December is just the latest installment,” said Adam Sutner, director of marketing for Vail Mountain.
“We are proud to help bring such world-class acts to Vail Snow Daze. With the resources and assistance from Vail, we have brought this event to a level no one in the industry can match,” said James Deighan with Highline Sports & Entertainment, the company that produces Vail Snow Daze and books the bands in conjunction with Vail Mountain.
